Welcome Back Cox

2018 was a long and painful year for Cox. Finishing the season at the bottom of the Premier League with a 3-10-0 record and the least total points scored out of any team, he had all but punched his ticket to relegation town. After putting up the 3rd highest points of the week in Week 14, Cox still wasn’t able to get past Moeller who put up the 2nd highest points in the week, ending in a 173.70-170.08 barn burner. The week 15 Relegation Bowl didn’t get much better, as he was ultimately eliminated by a single digit margin of victory in a 133.32-124.56 loss to Egon.

Prior to Relegation, it appeared Cox was turning around his team’s mediocre at best performance over the years. Cox had made the playoffs 5 straight years before getting relegated. He even made it as far as the championship in 2013, where he was ultimately blown out by B Scott. He hadn’t even dipped his toe in the relegation waters until 2018, where he went to his first and only Relegation Bowl.

Team Performance

2013 looked like the year Cox was finally flattening the being terrible at fantasy curve, until he spiked again in 2018

Teams have had hit or miss success their year after relegation. No one has ever won The League! when they come back, but 2 teams have come as close as 2nd place. No one, technically, has been relegated after coming off relegation either. Carmen came close, but ultimately an appeal threw a wrench in the 2012 relegation and gave him a free pass into the 2013 season.

2010 - Carmen, finished 12th in 2012
2011 - Billy, finished 2nd in 2014
2012 - The Appeal. No one was Relegated.
2013 - Sweets, finished 4th in 2015
2014 - Moeller, finished 9th in 2016
2015 - Tony, finished 8th in 2017
2016 - Grabs, finished 7th in 2018
2017 - Hans, finished 2nd in 2019
2018 - Cox, TBD in 2020
2019 - Reichert, TBD in 2021

Hoping it to be a just a minor bump in the road, Cox should be ready to come back strong in 2020 after a long relegation vacation. Unfortunately, he will be going against B Scott twice and Moeller twice, 2 teams that have stacked early round picks for this year’s draft. Time will tell what they do with those picks and how that will shape the 2020 season. All roads point to Cox getting back on track and going after his elusive first bobblehead.
