Giddy Up!
Both in honor of Da Biscuit’s incredible championship run and in an effort to enhance and streamline the draft day experience, The Commish settled this year’s draft order BEFORE draft day with an inaugural Leeeague! horse race.
WHEN:
Date: Saturday, August 17th
Where: Saratoga Race Course, New York. Race 9. Lake Placid Stakes presented by Caesar’s Sportsbook at 5EST.
How to Watch: Live race coverage will be available on FOX directly after the Bears/Bengals preseason game at 5EST.
THE DETAILS:
Horse Picking Order: A random draft order determined the order:
1) Sweets
2) Smitty
3) Cox
4) Grabs
5) B Scott
6) Reichert
7) Tony
8) Herriott
9) Moeller
10) Billy
11) Egon
12) Carmen
Tony came away as this year’s 1st overall pick with an 8:1 shot on the wings of Grayosh.
How’s It Worked?: Managers will draft horses in order. The idea is to pick a horses that you think will finish in a similar position that you want to draft from.
For example, if you want the 1st overall pick, you will likely pick the favorite. If you want to draft last, you will likely pick the horse with the worst odds.
Draft Order: The final result of the race determined the draft order.
Fine Print: Each horse can only be selected once. If a manager’s horse is scratched, they can pick any remaining horse or any horse with similar odds as the one they chose. In the case of doubling up on a house someone else has picked, they will draft from whatever position their horse finishes in +/- 1 spot.
Attendance Advantage: Managers that will be making the trip to Miami were in the first group of selections (picks 1-8), followed by managers that will not be making the trip to Miami (picks 9-12).
