All In

Billy’s All In approach has brought home two bobbleheads in four years. Is he due for his 3rd?

Billy’s winning formula the past few years has very little to do with putting his team on his back and carrying them to a championship. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Since trading future draft picks was introduced into The League! in 2014, Billy has taken full advantage of it. Year after year, he has sold future draft picks to build super teams to ride into the playoffs. The strategy has worked well for him, winning 2 bobbleheads in the past 4 years.

He won his 1st bobblehead in 2016 by doing what he does best - going all in at the trade deadline. Billy sent his 1st and 5th round picks to B Scott in exchange for Julio Jones and Le’Veon Bell that year and the rest was history.

He tried it again in 2017, acquiring Le’Veon Bell and Marvin Jones Dr. before the trade deadline. He ended up finishing in 3rd place that year as he ran into a buzzsaw in B Scott in the semifinals.

2018 saw a lot of the same. He went his biggest that year, acquiring Saquon Barkley, Tarik Cohen, and Ezekiel Elliott for his 1st, 2nd and 4th round picks. Billy rode that triple threat into the playoffs and finished the year making room in his trophy case for his 2nd bobblehead.

2019 was the only year we didn’t see his “win now, worry about next year later” mentality take place. For whatever reason, Billy was a huge buster that year and was not involved in a single trade. He ended up finishing the season in 9th place, his worst showing since 2015.

Looking to get back on track, Billy is coming into this year’s draft with a normal set of draft picks for the first time since 2016. We’re used to seeing Billy come into Draft Day from a self dug hole and still make the playoffs. It will be scary to see what he can do when he isn’t drafting from behind.

His strength of schedule is looking like it could be promising as well, going against Moeller and longtime rival Carmen each twice. Moeller is coming in with one of the worst statistical rankings in The League! and Carmen is looking to bounce back from a 4th place finish last year.

The oddsmakers currently have Billy as a favorite to make the playoffs, and a +430 money line to win the entire thing. As long as he can put together a decent draft and go for broke like he always does, there is a good chance we will see him going for a league tying 3rd bobblehead later this year.
